About the Library Library Hours About the Library The Ecumenical Library serves the informational and research needs of the Center’s diverse tenancy. The Library holds 17,000 books and receives various periodicals and newspapers. While the collection is primarily religious in nature the Library has a fiction section that supports its book club and also includes material on non-profit management and fund raising, health and nutrition, and women’s issues. The Library has archival collections on mission history and ecumenism. The Library can obtain material not in its collection through interlibrary loan, provided ample time is given. The Library’s primary clientele are the staff members of the tenant agencies of the Interchurch Center. Students and faculty of Columbia University, Union Theological Seminary, and Jewish Theological Seminary can visit The Library but do not have borrowing privileges. The Library is open by appointment to researchers unaffiliated with tenant organizations.
